Online Piano Competition 2025
Registration Form

APPLICATION DEADLINES/FEES:

$40 Early Registration* | Register by January 31, 2025

$55 Regular Registration*  | Register by March 4, 2025

*Fee is non-refundable and must be paid in order to complete your registration

VIDEO SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

The online Video Submission Form with YouTube link must be submitted by Tuesday, March 4, 2025, 11:59pm Central Standard Time (CST). Any entries submitted after this deadline will not be accepted.

 

REQUIRED MUSICAL REPERTOIRE (TWO WORKS​):

1. One Assigned Christian Musical Work as shown below, according to the performer's division and age as of March 4, 2025:

A. *Primary Division: Ages 8 & Under | "This is My Father's World" (English melody, arranged by Joshua Chua)

B. *Intermediate Division: Ages 9-11 | "Blessed Assurance" (music by Phoebe P. Knapp, arranged by Joshua Chua)

C. *Junior Division: Ages 12-14 | "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee" (music by L. v. Beethoven, arranged by Yenn Chwen Er)

D. *Senior Division: Ages 15-17 | "Beneath the Cross of Jesus" (music by Frederick C. Maker, arranged by Yenn Chwen Er)

*Sheet music for the Christian piano pieces above may be purchased by clicking on the title.

2. One Selected Classical Musical Work or Movement of your choice that best reflects the performer's musical abilities.

​-Examples of composers include but are not limited to:

  • Baroque period - J.S. Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, etc.

  • Classical period - Haydn, Clementi, Mozart, Beethoven, etc.

  • Romantic period - Schubert, Chopin, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, etc.

  • 20th-century period - Debussy, Ravel, Bartok, Prokofiev, Gershwin, Copland, Ginastera, Messiaen, Muczynski, etc.

  • ​Pedagogical Composers (for primary division) - Nancy & Randall Faber, Martha Mier, Catherine Rollins, Dennis Alexander, William Gillock, etc.

-Repeats are not required but may be played at the discretion of the performer.

-Participants may perform with or without sheet music. Performing from memory is encouraged but not required.

-Participants are required to submit a single PDF sheet music of their selected classical musical work or movement. You will attach the PDF on the Video Submission Form.

 

JUDGING CRITERIA:

Performers will be graded using a rating scale of 1-20, based on the following criteria -

Musical Interpretation, Clarity & Technique, Rhythm, Expression, Performance Presentation

AWARDS & RECOGNITION:

All participants will receive a certificate of participation and feedback. The winners of each division will receive recognition on our website and a cash prize as follows:

 

A. Primary Division: Ages 8 & Under ------

1st place $150 | 2nd place $80 | 3rd place $60

B. Intermediate Division: Ages 9-11 -------

1st place $200 | 2nd place $110 | 3rd place $80

 

C. Junior Division: Ages 12-14 ------------

1st place $250 | 2nd place $130 | 3rd place $90

 

D. Senior Division: Ages 15-17 ------------

1st place $300 | 2nd place $150 | 3rd place $100

 

* Before receiving a cash prize, selected winners will be asked to:

  1. Provide proof of performer's age.

  2. Send the original video file of their performance to the New Heart Christian School of Music for future promotional purposes.

The final results of the competition will be emailed to all participants and posted on our website by Tuesday, April 22, 2024.

ADDITIONAL RULES AND TERMS:

  1. The first-place winners from our 2024 online piano competition are not permitted to enter the same age division for this competition.

  2. The application fee is non-refundable.

  3. Repertoire changes for your selected classical musical work is permitted before March 4, 2025. The final selected work must be indicated on the Video Submission Form.

  4. All prize winners must keep their YouTube performance video set to "Public" for future promotional purposes.

  5. All competition requirements, including musical repertoire and video criteria, must be followed explicitly without exception. If any requirements are not adhered to, the participant may be disqualified at our discretion.

  6. No appeal shall be possible against the competition results or any decisions made by the judge or competition director. The competition director reserves the right to make all final decisions in regards to the application and adherence to any rules, criteria, or terms set forth in this competition.

  7. Participants must respect the final decision of the competition results. Disrespectful manners or disparaging remarks towards the competition director and/or fellow participants will result in automatic disqualification.
